I remember when I officially met Kayla, it was roughly five years ago at her sister-in-law, Devon's, bachelorette party. We instantly clicked, and we had such a great time that weekend! Devon and I have worked and photographed many weddings together, so of course, I was beyond honored to get asked to photograph Kayla and Kasey's BIG day! I had some big shoes to fill, for sure! But, they made it super easy, as you can see below!
The day started at Becky's Salon in Lake City, South Carolina. Kayla and her girls were pampered and dolled up beautifully! During this process, Kayla had the most handsome visitor, her son, Carsten. He came in toting a huge bundle of white balloons, and two cards; one from him and the other from Kasey. Talk about sentimental and precious.
We made our way to the reception venue at Twin Lakes, in Cades, where Kayla finished getting ready, along with her bridesmaids. The girls were absolutely stunning in floor length periwinkle blue gowns and silver Jack Rogers. Kasey and his groomsmen eventually met us at the same location, where we finished off their portraits, in which they all donned grey suits, without jackets, and just vests. I love this look for the groom and groomsmen, especially during late Spring and Summer weddings. I am sure they appreciate it too, since it can get pretty toasty in South Carolina!
Vows were exchanged at Hebron United Methodist Church, also in Cades, South Carolina. This was one ceremony where I actually cried more than I thought I would, and wasn't expecting to until I saw Kasey turn around and say vows to Carsten. I am pretty sure there wasn't a dry eye in the entire church. It was such a beautiful moment between Kasey and Carsten and the reaction was overwhelming to my heart, in a good way! The remainder of the ceremony was just as momentus as the beginning, and sealed with a kiss!
When we arrived to Twin Lakes, the sun had just begun to set, and a huge tent was lit up, and full of fun guests, ready to have a good time with the bride and groom and their families. We slid right on in to first dances; Kayla and Kasey, Kayla and Carsten and finally, Kasey and his mother. These were some of the most heartfelt first dances I believe I have ever photographed; full of raw emotion. The night continued with lots of dancing, cake, and the always entertaining garter and bouquet tosses.
The night ended with Kayla and Kasey being sent off between confetti poppers! If you haven't seen these in action before, just check out how fun they are below! Just another idea for a fun send off amongst bird feed, sparklers and glow sticks!
