I absolutely love when a plan comes together, especially when it involves a beautiful new mom-to-be! Whit-Lee and I had been discussing for months what we would like to do for her maternity session. I had ordered some new gorgeous gowns (used exclusively for my mom's!), and I just knew one of these beauties would be perfect! We ended up agreeing that the Merlot, bell sleeve gown would be the best choice, and boy were we right! Check out how amazing Whit-Lee makes that gown look! *All the heart eyes!*
We met up at Owen's Farm in Summerton, South Carolina. If you don't already know about this beautiful farm, you're missing out! The owners, Steve and Betsy Owens, are sweet hosts and are so easy to work with! They not only allow photographs on their property (with permission and fees), but they host weddings and events as well. Seriously, if you are looking for a quaint venue, check out this little piece Heaven!
Whit-Lee brought along with her, her boyfriend, Alex and her little sister, Cheyenne. They definitely made our time together entertaining! It's always a good thing when you can cut fool and laugh during a session, it helps ease the usual awkwardness that sometimes taking photos can cause. Alex did great when it came time to jump in the frame with Whit-Lee; I adore it when dad is excited to be a part of these sweet moments. I know a lot of men get nervous, but Alex was a pro, and even added in some precious impromptu moments with Whit-Lee.
Not only had we discussed the gown portraits, Whit-Lee wanted to attempt a milk bath. I have never done a milk bath, and had to improvise with a small kiddie pool. But, I think they turned out beautifully! I had on hand an ivory, lace gown that Whit-Lee wore for these photos, it was a perfect contrast to the white milk along with the jewel toned florals and greenery. The time we spent during those photos was hilarious! We could not stop laughing, and mind you, it was pretty chilly the day we shot these. Whit-Lee was more than willing to get in the ice cold water though; and was completely fearless!
