Have you ever prepared and planned for something epic and then it kind of doesn’t work out the way you had imagined? That happened to us on the day of Jill’s bridal portrait session. We had originally planned to shoot her session at her wedding venue, The Cabin at Old Spur in Timmonsville. However, due to the hurricane we made new plans to shoot at Swan Lake in Sumter the next week. Well, wouldn’t you know, more rain came our way! We quickly shifted gears and tried to find something closer to Summerton, since the radar appeared clear of anything hitting this area. Boy were we wrong! We realized at that moment, we needed a plan D and it needed to be indoors. I made a few phone calls, and got in touch with Michelle who owns the beautiful Drayton House in Manning, South Carolina. Can I just say, I am so glad we had to find a plan D. This venue is so unique and beautiful. It was the ideal spot for indoor bridal portraits, with amazing window light, and the perfect furniture and set ups. The upper and lower porches make for some gorgeous photos as well. You can hardly tell that not even thirty minutes prior to this session it was raining cats and dogs. We ended up getting some of the prettiest golden light through the wet leaves on the oaks. If you are looking for a beautiful wedding venue in the heart of Manning, definitely check The Drayton House out! You won’t be dissapointed with all it has to offer.
Even though it wasn’t ideally what Jill and I envisioned, I think we ended up with some rather stunning portraits. I have so many favorites, and Jill made the most beautiful bride. Take a look below, which one is your favorite?
